I recently pushed off for a long weekend to explore the countryside a few hours away and loved it so much we ended up staying nearly a week.
The area I decided to explore is the lower Cevenne in norther Herault, Languedoc. It is an area of rising hills or mountains (when does a hill become a mountain?) cut by deep rich valleys. One such valley is the Gorge d’Herault, which is where the Herault river has cut a very deep gorge through these mountains.
It was a working holiday for me as most mornings I would be up around 5:30 and whizzing off to some pre-planned spot to catch the sunrise. Some mornings, I was blessed with spectacular cloud cover and other mornings the more typical clear blue skies of this are.
So here is a taster of a new gallery that will be coming soon, a grocers shop in St Hippolyte le Fort, a small market town in the foothills of the Cevenne.
